Multimedia and The Internet

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for teachers who would like an introduction to using computers in language teaching. It is essential that the participants have basic keyboard skills.

Course aims
  • explore ways of using Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)
  • give you hands-on experience of popular software
Course programme

Although most of the materials used in the course will be for teaching English as a foreign language, they can equally be applied to other languages. Much of the content of the course is negotiated with the participants to ensure that their individual needs are met as far as possible.

Computer technology
This component focuses on the use of computer technology for language learning, including CD-ROM’s, traditional CALL programmes, word processing, databases, and the Internet. The aim of this component is to familiarise participants with different aspects of computer technology. There is also the opportunity to experience web-site creation.

Software
This component examines the latest language learning software and popular interactive software and gives you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of the packages.

Methodology
This component looks at how particular technology and software types can be used by language teachers for both class and self-access use.

Why come to bell Norwich?


The school is in a beautiful 17th century manor house set in its own grounds on the edge of the city of Norwich, one of the finest cities in Britain.

The school is exceptionally well equipped, with a purpose-built Study Centre and offers a range of sports and recreational facilities including tennis, volleyball and a pool table.

The tutors are practising teachers and teacher trainers with wide- ranging professional involvement in ELT.

Norwich is the capital city of the East Anglian region, set in beautiful countryside close to the Norfolk Broads, a large area of natural lakes. It has a university, a castle, art galleries, cinemas and theatres.
